Civil Litigation. Areas of law which fall under the umbrella of civil litigation are: personal injury, elder or dependent adult abuse, tort claims, business or commercial litigation, employment law, contract disputes, unlawful detainers (or evictions), debt collection matters, construction defect, discrimination, real estate litigation, and the like. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list of the types of cases that fall under civil litigation.  In deciding whether you have a valid case, you should consult with our office to go over the strengths, weaknesses and relevant evidence of your case, right away!  Many times, we have seen potential clients being injured or having their rights stripped, simply because they waited too long to obtain sound legal advice. If you’re not sure whether the injury or harm you suffered is actionable under the law, it is best to consult with an attorney to find out. Statutory time limits to file a lawsuit vary, depending on the type of case.

If you have a document or evidence that might be important to your case, bring it with you  to your consultation.  As far as the rules of evidence go, as the client, you only need to remember the three laymen’s rules of evidence, which are: 1) Find the evidence 2) Get the evidence and 3) Get the evidence now!  Remembering and acting on these three principles could really help your case.

We understand that most people have never had contact with the legal system, aside from an occasional speeding ticket. When you are looking for the right advocate, you want a caring and knowledgeable attorney who is going to be on your side, while zealously representing your interests. You want an attorney who will patiently explain complex legal procedure or law, while honestly identifying the strengths and weaknesses of your case, as they are.
